- THE SEASON APPROACHES -

Okay people. It's March already! And it seems like only yesterday that we were making and breaking New Year resolutions, and now we are some distance into the 2009 Season preparations.

And it's not looking too bad either.

First off, we have pre-season shenanigans with a Friendly match against Fleckney. Venue and dates to be confirmed, although its apparently on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of April. The next weekend is probably going to be a club day with a Clubhouse 'Grand' Opening and an inter-club match, assuming we can get 22 players out of bed at once. I'll give you some more info when I've got it.

Goodness me, doesn't time fly? It'll soon be Christmas again!

CRICKET CLUB

Burton-on-the-Wolds Cricket Club are a club steeped in history and have been in existence for over 35 years and in that time (thanks to certain fundamental laws of natural progression) some of its members have now actually made the effort to learn the rules of the game and one or two can even play a bit.

Over the years the club has grown and developed into a well respected institution with two teams represented in the Leicestershire Senior League.

The First Team have this year gained promotion to the Premier League having finished 2nd in Division One in 2008 and the 2nd XI are in Division Four after another above-average season, finishing in 4th place.

Both sides enjoy the luxury of a plethora of young and increasingly talented players working and playing alongside some more experienced campaigners to help bring the very best levels of success to Burton on the Wolds Cricket Club.

2008 threatens to be an exciting year for Burton with promotion prospects a very real possibility for all players concerned.

Lets hope I've not just put a hex on it.
